Isara Garden adventure started in 2003 after I made decision to leave Bangkok where I leaved and worked for nearly 20 years. I felt in love at the first day with Pai and knew that it was the place where I could spend the rest of my life and make my dreams come true. I looked around for few months to find a former farming land up on the hill in Viengnor area with outstanding Mountain View but in that time the land was empty so I knew I will have to work a lot to change this land to be a green tropical wild garden. It was not easy for someone who never been a real gardener and have to set up everything alone but I just keep telling myself, “This is your choice so you have to keep doing it and make it”.

     Isara means “Freedom” in Thai. I felt free to restart my life in Pai and planned to build my own house in the way I really want, grow everything I eat and to make Isara Garden a land of friends. I was very interested in natural and sustainable houses so I started to build my cob house with recycle materials that my friends gave mostly for free.

     My target of life was to be as much as I can out of  capitalist system, to set up my own business at home for earning a living and share some space for friends who really need a place to set up their life and wish to share my life as a family.

     Isara Garden Cooking Class

The Asian vegetarian fusion cooking lab started in 2010. I love cooking since I was  young and got so much experiences and knowledge from my parents and from The Mandarin Oriental hotel in Bangkok where I worked for 14 years. So I use my own kitchen at home to teach and share the ideas of healthy cooking and exchange our life and food philosophies.

     Du Marche a la table Vegan Restaurant

A restaurant we opened in 2017 in the middle of our garden, we serve a small vegan menu with only fresh and high quality products and healthy refreshing drinks. We change the menu every day to keep it interesting for the customers and also for our creativity. We try to grow our self the aromatic herbs, some vegetables and fruits to serve real organic dishes and drinks.

     Isara Café by Namtan

A small Mountain View café run by our friends who live with us. They also make and sell leather handcraft jewelry. A perfect place to enjoy some drinks in a quiet and natural area far from the craziness and the heat from town with a beautiful sunset on the mountains.

     Eco houses for rent

We built 3 open clay and wood houses for rent, with private bathroom, kitchen and living room. Each house is surrounded by the garden. We built it for friends and peoples who really want to stay in Pai for middle or long term and wish to spend time with us as a community.
